How-to Guides offer additional information not found in our free information pages. They should be read alongside the information pages.
How does it work?
Individual How-to Guides can be bought for £2 per guide.
An annual subscription, allowing access to all the How-to Guides for a period of one year, can be bought for £20.
All purchases are made through PayPal. Please note that you don’t need to have a PayPal account to make a purchase – using the PayPal guest option, you can pay with any standard debit or credit card.
Please be aware that unfortunately we cannot take payment for How-to Guides over the telephone.

To purchase an individual guide
To buy a single guide, click on the PayPal button below the guide you wish to purchase. (Please note that you do not need to register with the site in order to purchase an individual guide.)
You will be taken to the PayPal website where you can pay for the individual guide using your existing PayPal account or with a credit or debit card.
Once purchased, you will receive an email confirming your purchase and then a second email will follow with a link giving you access to that page. Please do check your junk mail as the link may be sent there. Using this unique link, you may visit the page as many times as you like for a period of 12 months from the date of purchase.
If you have not received a link after 24 hours please contact us at [email protected] with your name, the date you made the purchase and the guide that you purchased.

To purchase an annual subscription to all How-to guides
To purchase an annual subscription, giving access to all the How-to guides, you need to register with the site. Click on the Register button below. You will be taken to the registration page. After submitting your registration, you will receive an email with a link back to the site to set your password. (Depending on your settings, this email may be filtered to your junk mail. It will be sent from [email protected] with a subject line of ‘Your username and password info’.)
Click on the link in the email. The site will automatically suggest a strong password. Copy or make a note of this. Should you prefer, you can also enter your own password. Press ‘Reset password’. You can now login with your username and password.
On the login welcome page, you will find a PayPal button allowing you to purchase an annual subscription to the How-to Guides.
When logged in you will have full access to the guides you have purchased for a period of 12 months. After this period, should you wish to continue with access, please purchase another annual subscription. Purchase of an annual subscription also affords you the status of ‘membership’ of the Child Law Advice website.
Please note that our Schools Information Service has been discontinued.
